FIRST® Robotics Competition is excited to announce that Wisconsin is transitioning to the District Model for the 2026 season (next season)!

Teams in Wisconsin will see this new district affiliation reflected on their Team Dashboard when registration opens for the 2025-2026 season.

Why are we sharing this now?

The main reason is to be transparent with the community. Earlier this season, FIRST Wisconsin submitted a proposal to FIRST to adopt this model of play for 2026 and we’re thrilled to share that it has been approved. FIRST Wisconsin is already laying the groundwork to ensure a smooth shift to districts, and announcing this now gives teams, volunteers, and event organizers plenty of time to prepare for a successful 2026 season.

In addition, Wisconsin will also likely have 2 more events than they do this year: 4 District Qualifier events and the State Championship. More events mean more volunteers are needed. Announcing this now allows more time for people to sign up to volunteer this season, maybe in roles they’ve never tried before, to get some experience prior to next year. Offseason events are another great way to get experience in new volunteer roles. If you have any questions on volunteering in Wisconsin, please reach out to Volunteer@firstinspireswi.org.

Look to the FIRST Wisconsin Blog for additional updates and next steps.

Good luck to FIRST Wisconsin!
