Who's Who at HQ: Meet Jamie Rich

Jamie Rich, VISTA Management team

Jamie Rich started her journey at FIRST® Headquarters in 2013 as part of the FIRST Development team, where she worked for five years. She joined the FIRST AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) management team two years ago and also works to support the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion team at FIRST.

The FIRST VISTA management team works to recruit and support FIRST VISTA members across the country to engineer pathways out of poverty. The program seeks to expand the vision of FIRST by working in areas that have been deemed underserved: lower socioeconomic communities, rural areas, and areas that have little or no support or resources for easily accessing STEM initiatives.

The FIRST VISTA team just finished a successful remote orientation event and is excited for the year ahead. The FIRST VISTA member orientation was conducted over five days with 33 attendees representing 11 states and Puerto Rico. Keep an eye out for a FIRST VISTA member serving your community, where they may be conducting trainings, recruiting mentors, and helping to support and recruit FIRST teams.

Jamie attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, and graduated with a degree in Social Work and a minor in Public Health. Before coming to FIRST, she worked for Member Benefits, a member recognition program for PBS/NPR stations across the country as the Assistant Director of Client Service.

Jamie loves talking about the FIRST VISTA program and finding new underserved areas that need support. Please reach out to vista@firstinspires.org or click here to learn more.

Fun Fact:  Jamie enjoys learning about her ancestry and has been able to trace her family ties back to John and Benjamin Proctor, Rebecca Nurse, and Sarah Good, all from the Salem Witch Trials!
