Thirteen of the fourteen students on The Underdogs (FRC 7906) were refugees from seven countries. None had STEM experience when they joined the team. That didn't stop the Cottonwood High School team (of Salt Lake City, Utah) from making it to the 2019 FIRST Championship (Houston) in their first year.
FIRST strategic partner Boeing heard their story and surprised the students in Houston with $5,000 and their own Boeing mentor.
