FIRST® Tech Challenge participant, and high-school senior, Avanti Ramraj recently gave a TEDx Talk titled, “There’s a Brown Girl in the Ring,” where she discusses the use of gamification as a means of diversifying the players in the STEM universe and spreads inspiring messages of equality.
A Dean’s List Award Finalist, and active participant in FIRST® since she began FIRST® LEGO® League at the age of nine, Avanti and her teammates have embodied the mission and core values of FIRST through community outreach, mentoring additional teams, teaching coding at local libraries, advancing twice to the FIRST Global Innovation Awards for their outstanding solutions to real-world problems, and collecting food donations, creating, and teaching others how to make PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic.
